Gaslight had 3 versions the first was in 1938 and was Patrick Hamilton’s Gas Light then the 1940 version and the last was a blockbuster remake by MGM in 1944 with Ingrid Bergman.
I prefer warm and fuzzy movies although the 1940 version has enough going on that it keeps you on your toes.
The movie starts out with the murder of Alice Barlow by an unknown man who trashes the house desperately looking for something. Twenty years go by and a newlywed couple moves into the house where Alice was murdered. Then the movie begins.
